I had a couple of days stopover in Hong Kong on my way to Canada/Alaska, so one of my stops while there was to the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens. |

These cover an area of 5.6 hectares and were founded in 1871 as a Botanic Garden and renamed in 1975 as Botanical and Zoological Gardens to reflect the increased commitments to zoological exhibits. |

|
They are located on the northern slope of Victoria Peak which is walking distance from Hong Kong proper (uphill in the steamy weather was kind of hard going!) |

I have only shown here some pictures from the Orchid House, but the gardens as a whole are quite nice with of course the Zoo part adding some difference to the whole experience. |
